Through April 21st the phenomenal Light City festival is in full swing all around the Inner Harbor and Harboreast neighborhood. This is the only event of its size and scope in the United States, so be sure to check their website for the full schedule of events.

The frenetic pace of creativity continued unabated all around Baltimore as evidenced by the large number of fresh artwork Charm City Streets encountered by mid-April.

Street artists and graffiti writers from DC, DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA and all along the Mid-Atlantic Coast converged on Earth Day weekend in Northeast DC for the 2017 Fine Lines Paint Jam. This year Words Beats and Life collaborated with Broccoli City to present this annual event.

The former RC Cola bottling plant in Wynwood stood abandoned until Mana Miami converted it into an event space several years ago. The building and lot are gargantuan in size – providing over 2000 linear feet of wall space. Thus, graffiti writers now converge here during Art Basel to work their artistic magic on the wide expanse of concrete canvas.

New murals continue to appear in Sandtown. Nether is nearing completion of his piece Blind Justice. With assistance from a number of local teens, Ernest Shaw, Jr. is working on a piece for the Upton Boxing Center.

On N Charles Street there are four wheatpastes by an unidentified artist: a machine gun toting Marilyn Monroe; a cash-counting young woman from the 1950s; a French maid in a provocative pose; and, Stormtrooper Mickey. All very eye-catching and amusing.
