Starting the New Year off on the upbeat is the impressive new mural DC artist Jay Coleman (@jayfcoleman) created in Baltimore’s Bromo Arts District. With Eubie Blake on piano and the exuberant young drummer in the foreground, one can feel the rhythm and the percussive beat emanating from this eye-catching artwork.

Acclaimed writers from Baltimore, DC, and environs gathered for a paint jam at the ginormous wall behind Forman Mills on Rhode Island Ave NE. Highly respected crews such as FGS, HOD, KPG, NSF, PA, TGE and others were well represented.

Headlining today’s post … this thought-provoking roller visible in a couple of spots along I-83

Brazilian artist Alex Senna, with collaborative support from Section 1 Project and Urban Walls Brazil, created a fascinating new mural on Union Street in Woodberry. Entitled Oh, Baltimore ain’t hard just to live?, the mural depicts three children playing with a small fire that’s generating a lot of smoke. To see more of Senna’s artwork, visit his website.

DC FINE LINES PAINT JAM 2017

Headlining today’s post … Homegrown – artists Javier Padilla and Abner de Jesus of Colectiva Verde Luz collaborated on this striking mural

Street artists and graffiti writers from DC, DE, MD, NJ, NY, PA and all along the Mid-Atlantic Coast converged on Earth Day weekend in Northeast DC for the 2017 Fine Lines Paint Jam. This year Words Beats and Life collaborated with Broccoli City to present this annual event.

This past Sunday, in cooperation with MidCity Development and Recreative Spaces, Words Beats & Life hosted a live paint jam in Northeast DC. Entitled Roll Down Get Down the paint jam redecorated the metal gates covering the storefronts at 1301 Rhode Island Ave NE. The event featured prominent graff writers and street artists from DC, Maryland, and Virginia; plus live music and a vendor bazaar.
