Once Open Walls Baltimore 2014 wrapped up in May, Gaia traveled about the country and Europe producing a prodigious number of murals. In June he completed three murals: City of Altruism in Greenville, NC; Boundary in Atlanta, GA … a collaborative piece with Baltimore artist Nanook, Italian artist Ozmo, and David Cogdill; and, the Memorial to Vincent Chin in Detroit, MI
July saw Gaia in Austria participating with Cyrcle – Cash, Cans & Candy on a mural highlighting Vienna’s rich architectural history … and in southeast Italy where he painted Non Ricordo (I do not remember) for the Viavai Project in Racale.
In August he traveled to Istanbul, Turkey where he painted a mural for the Language of the Wall: Graffiti / Street Art exhibition at the Pera Museum.
Back stateside, Gaia traveled in September to Far Rockaway Beach, one of New Jersey’s beachside neighborhoods devastated by Hurricane Sandy. Here Gaia partnered with the nonprofit group Beautify Earth to paint the mural you see both above in the headline image and below for their Beautify Rockaway Beach Project (photos courtesy of Gaia).
Last month Gaia completed his mural below for Savage Habbit. The mural in the Ogden’s End Community Garden in Jersey City, NJ honors Henry Hudson, the English explorer who in the late 1600s first scouted the region around modern-day New York City (photo courtesy of Gaia).
